Marari Beach Resort
Mararikulam
Sixty-two thatched cottages laid out like the fishing village next door.
The place
Large, and designed carefully enough that it does not feel it. The cottages copy the local fishermen's huts — palm thatch pulled low over a raised veranda, wooden slat shutters — and are spread through gardens rather than stacked. A serious environmental programme sits behind it, and the beach is still the empty one it was built for.
What is there

- Ayurvedic centre and yoga
- Two pools, tennis and badminton
- Kayaking and boat trips
