Raas Chhatrasagar

Nimaj, near Jodhpur

Sixteen tents pitched along a nineteenth-century dam wall.

The place

The tents stand in a line on top of a dam built in 1890, with the reservoir on one side and farmland on the other, and birds on the water in numbers that surprise people who came for forts. Run by the family who own the land. One of the genuinely unusual places to stay in India.
