Siolim House

Siolim, North Goa

A seventeenth-century casa palacio in a village off the trail.

The place

An Indo-Portuguese palace house from the seventeenth century, remodelled into nine large suites without being sanded smooth. Siolim itself is a village rather than a resort strip, which is the point of staying here. There is a three-bedroom villa at the entrance to the village that can be taken room by room.

What is there

  • Nine large suites in the old house
  • Little Siolim Villa, three bedrooms, nearby
  • Pool and courtyards
  • Ayurvedic and spa treatments
  • Bicycles, boat trips and birdwatching
  • A working Goan village rather than a beach strip

Getting there

About an hour from Dabolim airport.
