Uttar Pradesh, Bihar & Bengal · About three weeks
From the Taj Mahal to Calcutta
Three weeks across the north, ending at the delta.
The journey
It opens with the Taj Mahal and Fatehpur Sikri — Indo-Islamic architecture at the point it stopped being able to improve on itself — and then works east through Khajuraho, Bodh Gaya and Varanasi to Kolkata. Hindu and Buddhist pilgrimage alternating the whole way.
