Pangong Lake in northern Ladakh

Northern Ladakh · 15 days

Nubra and Pangong

Three days on Bactrian camels, on a road that used to matter.

The journey

North of Leh, Nubra is called the valley of flowers. From there the journey follows old caravan routes across the Changthang plateau to Pangong Lake on the Tibetan frontier — three days of it on the back of a Bactrian camel, which is what carried the trade in the first place.

Route
